My first instinct is that the speculation (outside the bug report) about this
being an eDP 1.4 related thing is a red herring.

That said, there haven't been all that many eDP 1.4 panels around yet, and it's
of course possible we may have overlooked a DP spec change wrt link
(re)training that's specific to eDP 1.4.
