[Bug 109267] Display not working with i915 driver

I have followed the build guide and installed, however I cannot boot the new
kernel.  I have been searching for some way to fix this and have asked for help
in a few forums now.

I understand that this is not a help forum, but if anyone understands why this
might occur after following the build guide, that would be a great help.

Gave up waiting for root device. common problems:

Boot args (cat /proc/cmdline)
Check rootdelay= (did the system wait long enough?)
Check root= (did the system wait for the right device?)
Missing modules (cat /proc/modules; ls /dev) ALERT!
/dev/disk/by-uuid/blahblahblah does not exist.
Dropping to shell!
