I was under the impression that this was a kernel option(?). The issue is that
*no signal is displayed* at all during boot (i.e, before X, as mentioned
several times), so running an xrandr command is a somewhat sub-optimal solution
as it requires logging into the system to issue it.

Nevertheless, having the early boot-messages show up on HDMI2 is also very
useful. The display is immediately blanked after BIOS post when out using newer
kernels. It is not simply an Xorg issue.
