While I think that #21 might be resolved, w.r.t. the original problem, after
almost half a year of no visible activity to get it working, I have given up,
and sold that machine (lenovo T410s) for good. 

While I still hope that Intel can continue working on this issue, I won't be
available any longer for testing due to the lack of hardware showing this
problem.
