I have applied the patches on top of linux 5.0.4 ( needed some tweaking, my
untrained eye says the patch looks good https://ghostbin.com/paste/2bmk3 ) and
it doesn't fix the issue for me.

I've no idea how to use/compile drm-tip 

Is there any howto to explain how to use that on top of a "stable" kernel?
