I could endeavor to build drm-tip and enable the below kernel option, the issue
is there is no chance I'll be able to retrieve the logs if the system locks up. 

The system experiences full hard freeze - I won't be able to show you dmesg
content because I won't be able to drop into TTY, keyboard is frozen, there is
no disk activity, no response to suspend, no initialization of new devices upon
being plugged, pulseaudio, depending on what was playing at the time, is stuck
in a buffer loop repeating. The only way to fix this is a poweroff.
