--- Comment #65 from Pavel Rojtberg <pavel at rojtberg.net> ---
I have the D330 1200x1920 device, non LTE. With nomodeset I get a garbled
picture (see attachment).
The pattern in the corruption suggests the display is reading with a wrong
stride like if width/ height are swapped.

I get this behavior with Ubuntu 18.04.2 (Linux 4.18) and Ubuntu 19.04 (Linux
5.0).

An interesting finding however is that the experiment by "Mark Wynn Garcia"
does work for me.
After exiting GRUB with default options (notably _without_ nomodest), I close
the lid and wait for ~5min until the device went to sleep.
Opening the lid now results in the correct picture (at portrait 1200x1920
resolution) and things (xrandr --rotate) work as expected.

So it seems some panel data is read prematurely at boot that is re-read
correctly on resume.

Again this works reproducible with both Ubuntu 18.04.2 and Ubuntu 19.04.
