I have the very same error on Alpine Linux edge.

Hardware is a HP EliteBook 8440p
VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated
Graphics Controller [8086:0046] (rev 12)

Before hangup I see the following in dmesg:
[  698.991462] perf: interrupt took too long (2517 > 2500), lowering
kernel.perf_event_max_sample_rate to 79200
[ 1128.531377] perf: interrupt took too long (3153 > 3146), lowering
kernel.perf_event_max_sample_rate to 63300

Xorg.log:
[  1172.936] (EE) intel(0): Failed to submit rendering commands (No such file
or directory), disabling acceleration.

Adric's reports are very detailed. Shall I add anything else?
