Ok, I tried that; set 'boot display device' to 'crt' instead of 'lvds + crt'.
After booting, windows logo shows on crt (at lower mode), then the LVDS panel
switches on an shows the windows desktop as per normal.
Not sure what that tells you.. :)</pre>
