Mika, I've been following this thread for a while now.
Since kernel 4.3, I always tried and compiled it with a patch that disabled the
fast link training feature and it worked. Now, for kernel 4.6, I tried your
latest patch and once again my screen is working like a charm. Earlier today, I
also tried the latest original kernel, but the flickering was even worse than
in previous versions - one can't even pass the gdm login screen!
Please let me know if I can provide and logs or dumps, and their specific
files.
