<pre>I found some advice that recommended stopping using xf86-video-intel and
letting it fall back to the default, and this has made the problem go away.
I'm not sure what you lose by not using xf86-video-intel though, but it
certainly avoids the memory leak.
The GEM objects are now consistently well below 1GB after a month, instead of
reaching 14+GB after two weeks.</pre>
