So I'm back to my standard 4.8.17, whose problem isn't fixed (see <a class="bz_bug_link bz_status_NEEDINFO " title="NEEDINFO - [i915][SNB] black screen in X when resuming from suspend or hibernate" href="show_bug.cgi?id=98516">Bug 98516</a>), but neither does the drm-tip I tested.
