<pre>Jari,
Thanks for the resurrection. ;)
This longstanding issue does look quite similar to
<a class="bz_bug_link
bz_status_NEEDINFO "
title="NEEDINFO - Big monitor has blank display (HDMI or DVI) in any kernel since and including 3.13 (despite earlier fixes)"
href="show_bug.cgi?id=90128">https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90128</a> - yes. Although that bug is
reported as being specific to Haswell, whereas this occurs on both Ivy Bridge
and Haswell - and possibly others (Sandy Bridge) Or it could obviously be that
the person reporting only has a Haswell system to test on.
Anyway; I will try the latest 4.11.0-994-* from drm-tip this weekend, and boot
the system with drm.debug=0xe. Hopefully I'll have time to test on both Haswell
& Ivy Bridge so we can get to the bottom of this sucker.
Looks like xf86-video-intel is still on the 2.99.917 version. (Good, as I don't
have to build a package for that as well.)
Would be interesting to see whether the output is still *completely blank*, or
if it instead produces the vertical banding reported in <a class="bz_bug_link
bz_status_NEEDINFO "
title="NEEDINFO - Big monitor has blank display (HDMI or DVI) in any kernel since and including 3.13 (despite earlier fixes)"
href="show_bug.cgi?id=90128">bug 90128</a>. (I'm
guessing blank, as the projector only accepts a certain number of validated
modes..)</pre>
