That's my educated guess.

An LSPCON firmware update fixing something isn't proof that there aren't other
LSPCON related issues in the drm drivers.

AFAICT all of the scenarios you describe consist of an active protocol
converter. The same chips that are used for the internal LSPCON are used within
adapter cables.
Is anyone here experiencing issues with native DP or native HDMI, with no
active protocol converters in between?</pre>
