<pre>We don't know how long the kernel will take to do the operations, but the
*kernel* is also imposing the time constraint for the entire sequence of
operations. For CI the problem is compounded by lockdep making it even slower,
predicting the limits is impossible and subject to change. The best way around
it is to disable the limitations the kernel imposes upon userspace, but those
patches fell on an unreceptive audience.</pre>
