Could you check the output of the following when the display is properly
enabled, let's say right after powering on/booting:
v=$(outb 0x66 0x80; outb 0x62 0x1a; inb 0x62)
echo $v
outb 0x66 0x81; outb 0x62 0x1a; outb 0x62 $(( v | 8 ))
outb 0x66 0x80; outb 0x62 0x1a; inb 0x62
Is the display still enabled? Could you attach the full dmesg log after this?</pre>
