Using 'echo X > /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness' changes only the value of 'cat /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness' but the actual brightness of the screen stays at maximum. After suspending and resuming (while fastboot is enabled), the backlight works and adjusting the brightness works again. I have attached the dmesg output after suspend/resume.
