I do suspect there's something wrong with the GPIO code (either in the pincntrl part or i915). Disabling the GPIO setting worked in <a class="bz_bug_link bz_status_NEW " title="NEW - [GLK DSI] Black screen after grub - Ubuntu 18.04 - kernel latest tip 21.11.2018" href="show_bug.cgi?id=108826">bug 108826</a> but I believe that then works by accident; apparently the panels in question don't absolutely require the GPIOs to be changed from whatever the GOP did. And apparently setting the GPIOs properly is required for D330.
