The workaround based on enabling loadable module support, crippling userspace and system architecture to support module loading (which is unfortunately not allowed in some cases) and delayed loading of i915 still works, but better workaround seems to be to replace any low-power Atom based systems with ARM-based competition these days. Please consider moving affected drivers to Staging area of kernel sources.
