<pre>looks like full reboot isn't necessary but instead restarting X twice will
clear both changes: first X restart will clear the xrandr Bad link status, and
the second X restart will update/clear the change in
~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/displays.xml (it becomes `true`
again)</pre>
