Well if it is related it doesn't fix it for me I'd just sent an e-mail
to the list about the issue a minute before you sent this patch

However I'd like to point out with 2.6.29 and Linus's tip the screen
corruption starts as soon as X starts (bar the mouse curser) and KDE
crashes during startup and then it cycles trying to start

With intel-next kernel however the corruption only starts when KWin
starts the compositing effects and KDE does fully start (this is with
and without the above patch) and with the patch I can boot with
i195.modeset=0 and everything looks fine
