Hi list,
I'd like to know list of SW modules which are used to render video(H.264,
VC-1 or Mpeg-2) playback on G45 chipset. Of course for linux.
G45 supports HW accelation for H.264, VC-1 and Mpeg-2.
I believe that at the basement there should be i915 linux kernel module.
i915 should drive HW(GMA X4500HD).
Then above i915 what goes next?
I also believe it would be different depending on distributions.
I actually need this information for Android-x86. (But I want to know for
other distributions also especially for Ubuntu)
For your information, Android-x86 uses OpenCore for decoding Movies. (And
for Ubuntu I am not certain but it uses gstreamer)
But with G45, I wonder What part of decoding should the OpenCore do and what
part of decoding(accelation) should the HW(GMA X4500HD) do.
I'd like to know how would this be for android-x86 and how do Ubuntu or
other linux distributions configure their SW stack for this.
Is xf86-video-intel one of them?
Thank you very much in advance.
Have a good day :-)
