This is for existing code that needs to do some off screen rendering. In
fact my next question was

Our current plan is to finish implementation of the interface, but *not*
expose any fbconfigs that support creation of pbuffers.  The pbuffer API
is dead.  Framebuffer objects should be used instead.  Are you wanting
pbuffers for new code or for an existing application?
