Maybe try xorg updates: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat/+archive/x-updates
or xorg-edgers PPA, though it's unstable: https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers

This will get you an updated driver.  I've been using xorg-edgers for
a while and generally it's been a positive experience, anything
seriously broken gets fixed quickly.  But the x-updates is probably a
better choice for you unless you want to break stuff.
