Hmm, GNOME is running happily on an i845 and an i915 here (uncomposited).
The only effect of that patch should be to adjust by a pixel which texels
are sampled when the mask is NEAREST and the source isn't (or vice
versa). Solid glyphs should not have been affected.

As GNOME is affected, the cairo test suite should give a clearer
indication of the failures. And is there anything else that may explain
why it works for me?
