Don't get me started on X's inability to run without a fb or console...
Not at the moment, Keith promised me a patch a few months ago to allow X
to start without any modes detected...

This is also useful for non-X KMS applications, but as this has little
appeal outside of the devs, I'm quite happy to carry this in my own tree.
Just throwing it out in case anybody else found it useful. :-)
