[Intel-gfx] How to increase DPI on Compaq Mini 702EA (1024x600) Ubuntu 9.10

I would like to crease the DPI on my Intel GMA:
Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML Express Integrated
Graphics Controller (rev 03)

Any ideas how I can do this? I've tried so many ideas like Xft.dpi and
stuff but no success yet.

Only idea which worked was startx -- -dpi 160. However, if using GDM
login, that ignores startx, do you know how X or xinit is invoked from
GDM?
