Ok, this sounds more like a silent GPU death. We'll have to hit the
manual reset and see whether we can glean any useful info:
echo 1 > /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_wedged
But before you do, can you have a quick look with intel_gpu_top and see
if it detects any activity?
