The -dead_strip stuff looks nice. I read up on that and decided to
push this. Note that I simplified the logic a little bit and renamed
BUILD_HAVE_DARWIN to BUILD_IS_DARWIN. I also explained the down-sides
in the commit-message. I hope you don't mind.
