[Libdlo] Menus don't appear / Unknown EDID version 0

Hi all,
I'm testing multi-seat setup with GNOME 2.16 following the steps on the wiki
(with slight modifications to work on my distro).

The current biggest issue is that application menus do not appear properly. They
appear as thin white lines at the top left corner of the screen.

Manual testing didn't get me much further:
1) /usr/bin/Xorg -logverbose 9 :2 -br -audit 0 -nolisten tcp -novtswitch
-sharevts -config /tmp/tmp.zgnHgQ3453
2) export DISPLAY=:2
3) Start metacity
4) Start gcalctool

When I move the mouse pointer over the menu items I see those messages on the
console:

(gcalctool:3833): Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_widget_size_allocate(): attempt to
allocate widget with width 238 and height -35

Also the Xorg.2.log has:
(WW) DL(0): FBIOPAN_DISPLAY: Invalid argument

and a big number of:
select returned 0

when moving the mouse pointer.

There doesn't seem to be any errors in the logs so I'm not sure how to proceed
testing this to find the root cause of the problem and possibly fix it.

Running `xrandr -o 0' as proposed by Bernie and in earlier threads results is:

# xrandr -o 0
(EE) DL(0): Unknown EDID version 0
(EE) DL(0): Unknown EDID version 0

When Xorg starts for the first time there is:
(II) DL(0): EDID Version: 1.3
followed by information about the attached display

If I kill -9 the X server on this display and start it again I get:

/usr/bin/Xorg -logverbose 9 :2 -br -audit 0 -nolisten tcp -novtswitch -sharevts
-config /tmp/tmp.zgnHgQ3453

Can anyone explain what EDID is and why it is 0 sometimes and others not? I
think this is the root cause for my issues.

Thanks,
Alexander.
