For the technically inclined, a great way to help right now is testing
the big changes coming in X and GDM.  Here's a post today from Peter
Hutterer, that lays out what's happening on the X configuration side.
This is all very relevant to how USB hotplug display support will
ultimately get integrated:

What would be great is if we had a few people with DisplayLink devices
(running udlfb), playing with what it takes to get things configured
under this new regime -- and providing feedback on the appropriate
mailing lists (e.g. xorg, xorg-devel).  There are probably some small
bits of feedback that could make a huge difference in how well USB
displays are encompassed.
