Right. That's a F5521gw, isn't it? I've got the same device in my
Windows (yes, right) Thinkpad T420s. Long story, but our IT department
believe we need Windows PCs. Cannot run Linux on it. Briefly booted
Linux when I first got it, but ended up with a bit of a BitLocker
problem. So I'm not doing that again. The IT guys had to reimage it to
fix it. So now that laptop mostly sits on my desk at work with the lid
closed :)

Anyway, I've only seen reports of MBIM firmware for the H/F5321, not for
the F5521. Although I believe the F5521 is based on older chips in the
same family, so it should be possible to build the MBIM firmware for it
as well. But I guess the availability of such a build depends on
whether or not the laptop vendors want it. And it doesn't look like
they do. I guess that is more of a problem for Windows users with older
laptops, wanting to install Windows 8...

I also own another F5521gw myself, with device ID 0bdb:190d. So any MBIM
firmware for that device would be interesting. This one reports itself
as:

Given the current state of ST-Ericsson and Ericsson mobile broadband
module development, I guess our only hope is enough angry Windows 8
users pushing Lenovo, Toshiba, HP and others vendors to continue
supporting these modules....

Never seen any reports of MBIM firmwares for any ZTE devices. Which is
strange. I have access to a ZTE MF821D with Telenor firmware, but there
are no signs of any MBIM there yet.
