Thats is interesting,  I have not seen a 340u with only one configuration
before.

All the ones I have seen have 2 configurations and default to configuration 2,
the windows configuration (no QMI or tty interfaces))

Not at this point,  do you mind sending the modem output to the 'ati' command ?
I doubt it will help but I would be interested in seeing what is says, mine
is:

Have also tested with the latest firmware (SWI9X15C_01.05.11.52) and it
seems to behave itself as well
