I own the same modem.  
What is your openwrt architecture? Any chance to test the modem with a linux 
at x86_64 (Notebook/PC) ? (my be better USB, better power on usb)

I also own that modem inside the gl.inet E750 (mudi). But the openwrt firmware 
provided by gl.inet doesn't work properly.  I haven't tested it with modem 
manager yet.
