there was a short discussion on some issues, nobody had strong opinions
against those dates (like a clash with another free software venue) and
the decision has been taken by prado to go for those dates.

there was an email with the decision by them, but i don't know to which
lists it went :-)
i only know that i got several copies of it.

and femke has already published the news on the lgm website!

while sometimes it would indeed be nice to have a more formal
decision process, i think that in this case it all went very well. also
thanks to louis initiative to ask on the devs mailing lists!
