raise awareness in those days?
Announcing a CFP extension is a farily common tactic for free software
events -- though usually not announcing it until the last minute. Helps
motivate all of those procrastinators and people whose day-jobs keep them
too busy....
To not slow things down, in the meantime the talk selection committee could
certainly begin vetting all of the extant submissions, I would think.
