LGM 2017
=======
Meeting adjourned 17.05 EST

Process
-----------
For once we know where we are going for 2016
There will be a new deadline for final proposals.
Aiming for decision in summer. July?
Open invitation to join in the process,
performed primarily on IRC/mailinglist

Proposals
------------

### Hong Phuc Dang proposes Singapore 2017

Possible venues: National Design Center, and 2 others.

Local partners: hackerspaces, geek feminist meetups, etc

Pros: Visa exemptions for most nations, good public transport, free city
wide wifi, the only English speaking city in Asia, summer weather, beach
holiday spots are nearby, great food options.

Cons: "POLICE STATE!" No Durian.

Pros (pippin):
Several English speaking, but also local related communities like
hacker/makerspaces etc. Possibilities of attracting contributors
Cheap/many flights because major connecting hub.

Hong Phuc contact details:
@hpdang
hp at fossasia.org

Why not Vietnam (since Hong Phuc is from)
* regulartory difficulties for things required for organizing
* corruptions problematic with visa

Open questions:
- what is the visa situation for neighbouring countries in Asia (not just
for westeners)?
- what is the cost of accomodation?

No blocker issues raised on prompting the question

Do we have other contacts to Singapore?
- pippin has some to local hackerspaces
- Lara knows media artist
- Jon Phillips may have some contracts. We should ask him?

In informal show of hands "who would go to Singapore for LGM2017"?
(assuming it would be there)
maybe 8/10 raised hands

### Joao S. O. Bueno proposes Sao Paulo

Joao has indicated an interest in proposing an LGM in Brasil,
the first time we would go to outside Europe/NorthAmerica.

Local partners: Python Foundation Brasil

Greg: The 2 year organization cadence means that we could set a date for
LGM 2017 really far in advance, and organize sponsors and travel well in
advance to keep costs down.

Where would you like to go??
