I would like to help with fundraising for LGM.
Telling the financial story of LGM is essential for raising funds.
Can anyone provide answers, full or partial, to these questions for the
years 2015 and 2016 (two years is all that is needed)
- Who "runs" LGM? What's the official wording for this answer?
- Which organization(s) accepted donations for LGM?
- For each organization:
- If the name of the organization is an acronym, then what do the
letters stand for?
- What is the contact information (person, address, phone number,
website) for this organization?
- Is it a corporation, a partnership, an LLC?
- Does this organization represent other groups besides LGM?
- Who are the officers?
- Does this organization show up in a Google search, do they have a
webpage?
- Are donations tax-deductible for donors from Canada? from USA? from
EU? from anywhere else?
- What is their tax identification number (or how can this number be
requested) so their credentials can be verified by donor corporations'
purchasing and legal departments?
- How does this organization accept funds - wire transfer to a bank
account, credit card, PayPal?
- Does this organization have publicly available financial reports,
and how can the reports be accessed? [*Note: Organizations which
accept tax-exempt donations are usually required to make public financial
statements.]*
- How many people attended LGM each year? Donors want an estimate of the
outreach of their funds
- What is the estimated cost of the next LGM? Differences for each prior
location can be roughly estimated so that predictive estimates about the
next year's funding requirements can be made. Corporations can be very
supportive if they know the level of the financial requirement.
- What were the amount of travel requests each year? What proportion of
travel requests were reimbursed each year? If travel expenses are
reimbursed only after actual costs are met, then it is important for donors
to know if they've given too little. If there are shortfalls, then the
shortfalls can be used to ask for increased donations for the following
year.
It is usually easy to find out this information about organizations and
somewhat less easy yet still possible to find out this information about
conferences. The fault may lie with me that I don't know this info, but it
would be super if some nice person(s) would provide me with this data.
xx
Susan
