it depends on what you mean by "controls"...

the design and the content has be done by the other ale with the local
team.

anybody who asks can get be an editor for wordpress and provide
content.

the theme, the templates and the plugins are stored in the github
repository and are automatically pushed to the website.

so, the best is to fork it, edit and make pull request (as you
already did!)
