There is an ongoing tension in the organization meetings at LGM and the decisions made. On the one hand, one might argue that if decisions are made at the meetings, only those who attend have any say or vote. But at the same time, the discussions and decisions which come from the mailing list are an even smaller group of people. It gets hard to know how many even read the mail list postings since so few people interact.

I think it makes sense to try to come as close as possible to decisions about future LGM locations while at the meeting, with a very short time-frame afterward to make final decisions via the mailing list.
