book chapter bilingual translation in table

For years now I do with ooo (now lo) my translation jobs (literature), I use
tables with 1 column for each language (the only way to have the bilingual text
aligned) which I later convert to normal text. The tables can reach a severe
length.

In former versions, I experienced problems, hangings, lack of performance using
large tables (that's why I split them normally up into several files), but with
my actual project it is worse: I CAN'T OPEN IT, when it loads, lo crashes. Lo
also crashes sometimes when I change zoom in weblayout view, that's why I thing
it could crash at the point it calculates the weblayout view for a large table
full of text.

I attach my project which I cannot open. I use Ubuntu 11.10 with Unity 2D.
