Wrt BrianH's comment, the workaround also works in Windows XP on LO 3.3,
however it is only necessary to change the User interface from 
     English (USA) 
to 
     Default - English (UK)

The locale does not need to be changed and may be left as appropriate - in my
case Default - Australian (AU)
