Just checked in Excel, it doesn't display duplicates.
I tried to delete a name that was defined twice and had Excel display the
duplicate, so yes, they already are present in the original file.

Excel seems to use the names defined in the sheet by default, LibreOffice
doesn't seem to.

Attempt to save in ods format caused LibreOffice to crash (i'm now in 3.6.0.4
RC)
