Yes, it's been OK since I changed Tools/Options/Formatting Aids and selected
all the non-print characters. I don't know whether these are now enabled by
default in a fresh LO installation (this was the solution suggested by Borut
Cadez), or whether my settings of these on the previous installation were
"remembered" when the new version was installed, in which case the problem is
not really solved for those new LO users who are used to the MS products where
you don't have to edit the options in order to get at least some non-print
characters displaying after selecting the non-print display button.
