[Reproducible] with "LibreOffice  3.5.5.3. Portuguese UI / German Locale
[Build-ID: 7122e39-92ed229-498d286-15e43b4-d70da21] on German WIN7 Home Premium
(64bit) 

Simply click before first letter of an arbitrary document after you opened word
count viewer, <shift+arrowright> several times. first letter of each word in
selection will not be counted.
This problem only appears when you select with open count viewer, no problem
when you open viewer after selection has been done.

Word Count problem not in Status Bar word count.
