I can confirm this bug also appears on Windows XP 64bit, with latest version of
 LibreOffice 3.5.5.3.

The file does not open in Word, and when opening in Libreoffice half of the
original document is lost! 

This is very serious bug, that leads to data loss! I changed the importance
level accordingly.
