Yes, it worked with 3.5 (just verified, same machine & conditions). But you
were right about the x64, actually the problem's the "shlxthdl.dll" (my wife's
got a W7 x86-system) - it crashes the same way with 3.6.

My guess: shlxthdl_x64.dll is just a wrapper, correct?

I could fix it the same way:
REGSVR32 /u shlxthdl.dll
