And there the corner cases start. If we implemented date input according to the
output (!) format I'd hand you an empty form with differently formatted date
fields and asked you to fill all in with a certain date. My bet is you'd not
even get 50% right at the first try and pay me 100Euro for each failure ;-)

Documents aren't needed, help of all (!) l10n teams would be sufficient. Back
when I introduced the patterns I asked on the l10n mailing list (feedback was
good but not sufficient) and wrote 2 blog posts and pointed to those also in
the release notes, asking for patterns. I can just repeat here what we
currently have in 3.6.0, what isn't covered yet we'll have either to guess or
to discover through user reports:
