An observation which *could* be helpful in finding the bug:

(Bug 51943 is fixed now, the color pulldown palettes work again, but
nevertheless bug 51943 does not return, therefore Winfried’s and/or Thorsten’s
changes in the code for the color pulldown palettes seem to have eliminated the
accessibility-related crashes by the way ... could this give a clue about where
the bug is?)
