See comment formatting in content.xml
Now, every comment has its own character style (which are invisible for end
users; I learned that for my research in bug 107095, comment 4).
I would use that fact to keep work in this bug as easy/short as possible:
- Handle comment styles as character styles in the character style list.
- Initially, all comments should have the same default character style.
- What's possible in character styles should be possible for end users to
format comments. (In MSO Word 2013, the same (character) formatting is possible
for comments as for normal text.)
- If a user changes the formatting in a comment, a child character style should
be created automatically for the formatted text.
I know that comments with lists and other formatting is not possible with this
solution. If this is requested, comments must be handled like normal text with
the possibility to use all style types.
In the attached test file I inserted 3 comments. All comments have the
attribute text:style-name="T1" which is defined in the office:automatic-styles
section of the content.xml file.
The third comment contains text with bold formatting which has the attribute
text:style-name="T2". The only difference between T1 and T2 is
fo:font-weight="bold".
